This is the app that transforms your smartphone into a unique tool for intelligent travel and personal safety! In case of need or danger, the Viasat Operations Centre is able to recognise and locate you immediately, thanks to your smartphone’s GPS, to send assistance and rescue on the scene. 
Viasat appS provides Free (Emergencies, Route Recording and Traffic Info) and Premium functions that require a service subscription and, where applicable, a new generation satellite device (BluBox, Linea S, SlimBox or sosCall) on board.

The Vehicle Locator, Statistics and Geofence functions require a service subscription with a new generation satellite device on board (BluBox, SlimBox, SoSCall).

The application requires a GPS connection to ensure the best functionality.

The Register button activates the functions linked to your subscription: if you are already a Viasat Customer, proceed by entering your Tax Code or VAT number to confirm, then your mobile phone number.
Accept the terms of service (scrolling through all the text until the Accept and Activate button is enabled) and enter the Master Password received by email to complete the procedure and access all the Premium functions provided by your Viasat service subscription.

If you are a customer of 2 or more Viasat subscriptions (in the name of the same person), you can use Viasat appS on another mobile device and then proceed with registration using the secondary password, as indicated in the email instructions received when subscribing. If you are not yet a Viasat customer, you can use the free functions right away.
If you are interested in receiving information and news about the Viasat appS world, enter your email and accept the terms to complete the procedure.

Proceed and insert for confirmation your Tax Code or VAT number and then your mobile phone number.
Accept the terms of service (scrolling through the text until the Accept and Activate button is enabled) and enter the Master Password received by email to complete the procedure and access all the Premium functions provided by your Viasat service subscription.

If You are not a Viasat customer yet, you can use the free features now.
If you are interested in receiving information and news about the Viasat appS world, enter your email and accept the terms to complete the procedure.

 

If you are a Viasat customer, insert the phone number of the mobile device where Viasat apps are installed (mandatory field), then press the “Accept and activate” button, after reading the full legal notice.

For a successful activation procedure, insert the Password that you received (by email) when you subscribed to Viasat. In this way, you will be able to use all the Premium functions included in your Viasat service contract.
You will receive at the email address indicated, an email confirming your registration and your code to be used as a login to access the reserved area www.viasatonline.it.

If you did not receive the email with your password, you can recover your credentials by visiting the Viasat Customer Area and clicking on “Forgot your password”.
Scroll to the bottom of the legal notice and accept the privacy conditions (mandatory field) by clicking on ‘Activate’.

And if you are not yet a Viasat customer, click on the three white lines icon (to the right of the Viasat logo). This will allow you to use all the free functions of the Viasat appS. For information on Premium, functions contact Viasat Customer Service 800.691.691.

If you have more than one vehicle associated with your Viasat contract, using this item you can select the vehicle whose information you wish to obtain (‘Find Vehicle’ and ‘Statistics’ functions).

Pressing the intuitive buttons on the Emergency screen, you can forward a help call to the main emergency numbers and always have some valid numbers to touch.

Emergency numbers

– Viasat tank for road and mechanical rescue;
– environmental emergency (1515 Corpo Forestale dello Stato);
– child emergency (114 Telefono Azzurro).

Helpful numbers:

– a customisable number of the user’s choice (a family member, a friend, a favourite number to remember).

Emergency numbers

After pressing the button, the Viasat appS asks for confirmation: pressing YES activates a call directly to the selected service; pressing NO returns to the Emergency menu.

Valid numbers (card block)

After pressing the button, the system proposes the choice between a credit card and ATM card (Italy/foreign) and type of card.

Customisable number (user-defined)

By filling in the ‘popup’ you can save and preset number and name.
The Viasat appS requests confirmation: by pressing YES, a call is activated directly to the preset number; by pressing NO, you return to the Emergency menu; by pressing MODIFY NUMBER you can reset the number and callsign.

During the conversation, by pressing the Viasat appS bar that appears at the top of the smartphone screen, you can return to the Emergency menu or to the Functions page of the Viasat appS (by pressing on the Viasat logo at the top left) or return to the call in progress. To close the telephone connection, use the smartphone’s native functions.

A service to record any route taken with one’s mobile device.
The function involves activating the recording of the route, and periodically accumulating GPS points. In addition, it is possible to insert POIs (shops, restaurants, etc.). The route is saved in a standard format that can be viewed on map applications, such as those of Google services.
The various departure/arrival/interest points report position data (date, time, speed, altitude, distance in metres from the starting point) in order to allow total and partial calculation of the route, as well as calorie consumption, depending on the type of activities performed (walking, running, cycling).

Compass: positioning options.

The compass centres the detected position of your mobile device and allows it to be displayed on a map:
ON ME shows the area where your mobile device is located (Here you are)
ON YOUR ROUTE shows the route you have taken since the start of your registration.

Options: Function management menu.

Pressing ‘Record Route’ starts the recording of your GPS position.
A popup appears with a prompt to enter your weight in kilograms so that the calories consumed can be calculated.
Useful information in case of leisure activities, depending on the type of activity performed (walking, running, cycling).
Each time you press the button, the system records a new route and the previous one is deleted (see save route).

Press the ‘stop recording’ button to end the current recording or return to the Functions menu by pressing on the Viasat logo in the top left corner.
The ‘continue recording’ button allows you to resume recording without deleting the previous track (if there is no route, the button coincides with the record route).

The hide/show route button allows the track to be displayed or obscured on the screen, without interrupting tracking. The system allows the last route to be saved, using the ‘Save Route’ button.
The files, in KML format, are available for download on a PC by connecting the phone to iTunes and selecting Viasat appS.

The Apps area contains all saved routes and can be used to store or delete them.
During registration, it is possible to insert points of interest using pop-ups, by pressing the “insert point of interest” button on the Options menu.
The marked points are fixed on the route, symbolised by the ‘little hand’, and then available on a downloadable map.
It is possible to interact with the touch screen of one’s smartphone, by pressing on the little hand displayed, to review all the details of all the previously inserted points of interest.
In addition, using touch on the points (departure, arrival, interest), a popup appears showing information on the date, time, speed, altitude, elapsed time and distance in metres from the starting point and the calories consumed since the start.
The route saved on the PC using Itunes shows the same information at all location points

It is a service in cooperation with CCISS – Viaggiare Informati.

Traffic information (traffic, work interruptions, accidents, closed roads, etc.) is automatically updated every time the map moves from the previous position.

Compass: positioning options.
About me: shows the area where your mobile device is located (Here you are)
On the street: shows the area of the previously searched street, if it exists.
Options: feature management menu.
Update street situation: performs a manual update of the street information.

Address search: inserting street name and city searches the street in Google systems.
If the search is successful, the street is displayed on the map.

Enable/Disable tracking: Enables (or disables) the tracking function,  the user’s position will always be visible on the screen.
When the tracking function is active, the usual GPS position icon will be replaced by the blue Viasat car.

Satellite/Map: Activates or disactivates the satellite representation of the map.

This is used to activate a geolocalised emergency call to the Viasat Operations Centre with immediate and punctual identification of the caller.
It is necessary to press the red “SOS” button for at least 3 seconds.
If the Customer is unable to speak, the Centre can recognise the caller and locate the mobile device.
In addition, the position of the mobile device is updated at the Operations Centre throughout the call.

Therefore, Viasat operators can independently and precisely determine its location (e.g. how far down the motorway it is).
This makes it possible to provide immediate assistance and, if necessary, send help to the scene.

You will be able to view statistical data on the use of your vehicle:

  • the total kilometres are driven;
  • the percentage of mileage travelled on urban roads, motorways, and extra-urban routes;
  • the percentage of km travelled during daytime or night-time hours;
  • the Viasat statistical risk index (if applicable).

Premium functions are linked to the type of contract subscribed to.
In addition, if the Viasat device is linked to a telematics policy of the Behaviour Profile type (Driving Style), the Statistics function is not available because it is necessary to consult own data on the Insurance Company’s website.

 

PLEASE NOTE

Even if this app does not show the updated position of the vehicle, the Viasat Operations Centre, in the event of an emergency or need (e.g. theft), uses various security channels to ensure that the alarm is sent and to allow continuous tracking of the device on the vehicle, so as to facilitate precise localization.

Pressing the “Route” button calculates and focuses on the map the route between the current position of your mobile device and the last received position from the Viasat satellite device installed in your car.
The red dot symbol indicates the position of the mobile device and relocates constantly following the movement.
The outer pointer indicates the direction of the vehicle.
The small pointer indicates the current direction of travel.

Centre map on a vehicle” shows the area where your vehicle is located.
Pressing on the vehicle position icon activates a pop-up displaying the date, GPS coordinates, address, vehicle number plate, speed and Viasat Id.

Calculate route“: the system calculates and centres on the map the route between the current position of your mobile device and the last position detected by the Viasat satellite device installed in your vehicle.

“How does it work?”: activates a popup that explains the functional policy of the “Find Vehicle“.

You can set a virtual circular area focused on the vehicle.
The radius is configurable when the function is activated.
Once in action, the geofence alerts if the vehicle is out of the previously set area for more than 30 consecutive seconds.
The warning arrives at the Operations Centre and on the customer’s smartphone, using a push message.
In the case of several vehicles linked to the service contract, the desired number plate can be selected from the functions menu on the smartphone.

To restore the password, you can use the specific function of the Viasat appS.
Once downloaded, you have to insert the tax code communicated during the contractual phase.
At this point, a request will be made to confirm your mobile phone number.
It is necessary to scroll through all the service and privacy conditions, then click on the Accept and Activate button.
A screen will appear for entering the password (the one received with the Welcome email).
You should not insert anything but only click on the Retrieve button.

At this point, a message will be prompted to insert the email provided when the subscription contract was concluded.
Once the field has been filled in, click on Proceed, then confirm by clicking on Send.
The password to complete registration of the Viasat appS will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address indicated
